Event/Workshop
GB
Friday, 11 November 2022, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
What is the session about?
Although climate prevention is the priority in tackling climate change, we are already experiencing its effect, therefore must adapt to the impacts of climate change. This session will provide you with an overview of the risk and opportunities on site for the construction sector as a result of rising global temperatures.
It will particularly focus on the short-term impacts - some of which are already happening and others which will impact construction sites in the next 5 years - and explore what this means for construction works and what you can do to combat and control this.
What will I achieve?
By joining this session you will:
- Be given a short introduction on climate change and its impact, TCFD, and the difference between adaptation and mitigation
- Understand climate change scenarios, and the risks and opportunities associated
- Find out what this means to construction works, including exploring pollution risks, safety risks, delays to construction programmes due to ground conditions and air quality
- Learn what can be done to combat this through planning ahead, controls and adapting operations
What level is the session and do I need any particular skills?
This is a beginner level session and assumes you have limited knowledge of the topic.
What can I expect from a Lunch 'n' Learn?
Lunch 'n' Learns offer a quick introduction to a topic, or present a case study, 45-60 mins to fit around your busy schedule.
What are the technical requirements?
You will need:
