A 1-hour Lunch ‘n’ Learn with Akerlof discussing advances in decarbonisation of precast concrete, in the context of offsite construction. This Lunch 'n' Learn will be delivered virtually online.

What is this session about?

Precast concrete is one of the most widely adopted Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), with versatile solutions ranging from whole building and structural systems to precast construction components. However, its carbon-intensive manufacturing process is currently a barrier to the decarbonisation of the built environment.

In this webinar, Akerlof will discuss findings from their recent research project looking at ways to reduce the embodied carbon of concrete in Offsite construction projects.

What will I achieve?

This session will help you to:

·         Understand the whole life carbon footprint of concrete in construction

·         Learn about measuring embodied carbon

·         Think about low-carbon design, mix and construction techniques

·         Hear results from real-world case studies

What level is the session and do I need any particular skills?

This beginner session is suitable for anyone working in offsite or traditional construction interested in carbon reduction. We recommend reading Akerlof’s report before the session if you are able.

What can I expect from a Lunch ‘n’ Learn?
