What is the session about?

This webinar will introduce the new DfMA Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work, bringing in perspectives and experience from the client and manufacturer as well as discussing some key case studies.

The Overlay helps architects and construction professionals understand what they need to do differently in each of the 8 stages of the project lifecycle if they are to successfully adopt Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach. The accompanying report sets out the latest in thinking on MMC and DfMA for architects and construction professionals.

What will I achieve?

This session will help you to:

  • Identify the key client drivers for using DfMA
  • Understand the core tasks that are different when adopting a DfMA processes
  • Learn about the latest thinking in DfMA and how it will impact different professions
  • Understand the new relationships needed between client, manufacturer and designer/architect

What level is the session and do I need any particular skills?

This intermediate session is suitable for anyone who has an interest in DfMA, MMC and the use of offsite construction techniques. You may find it helpful read the DfMA Overlay prior to the session and come prepared with questions.

What can I expect from a Lunch 'n' Learn? 

Lunch 'n' Learns offer a quick introduction to a topic, or present a case study, 45-60 mins to fit around your busy schedule.

What are the technical requirements?

You will need:

  • Internet connection
  • A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook)
  • Earphones/headphones/speakers (preferable)
