VIRTUAL: Creating Social Value within the Highways Industry - Regional Delivery Partnership
Tuesday, 20 April 2021, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
In its broadest sense, Social Value is the relative importance that people and communities place on changes that impact on their lives. Common examples are provision of training/skills which increase an individual’s career prospects, supporting a particular community project, or improving the environment in which we live.
This webinar will present the importance of maximising social value from investment in infrastructure. It will identify best practise on creating social value for communities and stakeholders who benefit from road improvement schemes, and provide case studies from prime contractors and local suppliers working collaboratively to deliver real positive change to people’s lives. The Webinar will show how Social Value can begin at the planning and design phase, so it is woven in to a project from inception through to delivery and onward operation.
The Webinar will include presentations from Highways England on their Social Value priorities, as well as a case study from Nuneaton Signs. The Supply Chain School will cover the recent Procurement Policy Note on Social Value (PPN06/20) and implications for the supply chain. We will also be joined by Social Value UK who can provide broader context on the challenges, best practise and opportunities to achieve social value in construction projects.
