Designing out Waste can help project teams across several organisations reduce the environmental impact of construction at every stage of the build project; from design, to procurement through to end of life deconstruction. Being proactive at the earliest stage of any project enables the best use of materials, resources and energy during construction and over the lifecycle of built assets. Introducing circular economy methodology can also help reduce waste and overall construction costs.

This workshop will look at the true cost of waste and cover some key policy / regulatory drivers such as the Waste (Scotland) Regulations, the Scottish Landfill Tax (SLfT) and “Making Things Last” – the Scottish Government’s Circular Economy Strategy.

We will use online tools to introduce and share experience and learning in a collaborative and highly engaging format. The workshop will be led by Mark Turner, a Consultant at Supply Chain Sustainability School, with support from Stephen Boyle, Strategic Programme Manager at Zero Waste Scotland.
