Social Value for Highways: Embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - National Highways
This 2.5 hour workshop will provide participants with an overview of the National Highways social value strategy specifically in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.
What is this Workshop about?
Participants will gain an overview and explore the National Highways Social Value Plan 2022-24 and strategy, specifically in relation to the fourth pillar of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, supporting the creation of a more equal society by increasing opportunities for underrepresented groups and providing a road network that is accessible for all.
The workshop will outline best practise for creating meaningful social value, discuss the tools and frameworks available to measure and report on social value and hear from others who are actively delivering social value and making a difference.
Belinda Blake, Senior Policy Advisor for Equality Diversity and Inclusion at National Highways will discuss how this fourth pillar aims to increase opportunities for all by improving capability and introducing transferable skills for now and the future. Belinda will share National Highways approach and introduce examples from suppliers who are embedding EDI principles in all they do.
This session will share good practise from Scheme Delivery Framework Suppliers. More details on suppliers will be shared in your confirmation email nearer the date when you register for this session.
The National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF), announced in 2021, brings together 50 supply chain partners to carry out up to £3.6 billion worth of renewals to keep England’s motorways and major A roads running safely and smoothly over a 6 year period. The Supply Chain School is supporting the SDF suppliers and sub-contractors with training workshops to increase understanding, skills and performance on several key sustainability issues.
