What is this session about?

The Supply Chain Sustainability School’s recent ‘Whole life Carbon Guidance for Offsite Construction’ report identified nine significant opportunities for the offsite sector to drive decarbonisation. The report proposes that the ways in which materials are chosen and how designs are optimised can significantly influence whole life carbon impacts.

In the next episode of our “Lunch ’n’ Learn” webinar series, we look into the benefits and drawbacks of concrete. On the face of it, concrete might not be an obvious material to specify if carbon reduction is your primary goal, but our guest speaker, John Handscomb from Akerlof, will describe some of the ways in which significant carbon reductions can be achieved. Whilst there’s no ‘silver bullet’ solution, there are numerous ways in which significant reductions can be achieved.

What will I achieve?

By attending this webinar, you will learn about:

  • The latest innovations in concrete specifications
  • Using different specifications to achieve the required results
  • Implementing lean thinking in concrete structures
  • How collaboration in design can benefit all stakeholders

Who should attend?

This session will be extremely useful to designers, engineers, clients, contractors, specifiers and procurers, but will still be relevant to a wide audience.

What are the technical requirements?

You will need:

  • Internet connection
  • A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook)
  • Earphones/headphones/speakers (preferable)
  • A tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone to load facilitation tools
