Low Carbon Innovation - National Highways RDP / SDF / PDF
This 1 hour Lunch 'N' Learn will give an overview of supply chain innovations to reduce carbon emissions in the highways sector.
What will this webinar cover?
This webinar will explore National Highways Net Zero Plan in relation to low carbon innovation. It will set out learning and collaboration from the Low Carbon Accelerator Programme, exploring how partners and suppliers are finding innovative ways to reduce emissions, to reach its goal to make the road network net zero by 2050 and for net zero emissions from construction and maintenance by 2040.
The webinar will showcase projects and innovations from the Low Carbon Innovation Programme including using low carbon materials, delivering carbon negative aggregate, recycling old concrete and using a unique climbing robot to carry out structure inspections. There will be an overview on the National Highways Low Carbon Opportunities Register to encourage the supply chain to constantly evolve and to enable a proactive approach, collaborating on their own innovative ideas to reduce emissions including from cement, or steel or alternatives or find innovative ways to recycle materials. SME's outside the supply chain are welcome to join this session.
Hear from:
· Natalie Bird, Principal Asset Sustainability Advisor, National Highways on the Low Carbon Opportunities Register looking at identifying opportunities and how to find easy to implement opportunities in the short term
· Gill Danby, Senior Project Manager, Net Zero Carbon, National Highways on the Net Zero Carbon Major Project's drive for innovation through exemplar projects
· Imran Janjua, Innovation Manager, National Highways on the Innovation Accelerator and its support for ideas that can lea to substantial decarbonisation opportunities on the Strategic Roads Network
