What is the course about?
There is so much interest and press talk about Modern Methods of Construction, but mostly about volumetric modular construction. The scope of MMC extends far beyond modules and the terminologies and words we use may seem like a different world to the uninitiated. So, if you are wondering what all the fuss is about and would like to learn more about what is available then our Offsite Fundamentals Workshop is for you.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this 3-hour session, you will…
- Discover the factors driving clients to push for offsite solutions
- Gain an understanding of the different offsite solutions and systems
- Find out about the 7 categories in the Modern Methods of Construction Definition Framework
- Hear about the differences in 3D and 2D offsite approaches
- Gain an appreciation of where to use which materials and systems
- Benchmark your current offsite knowledge
- And come away with a tailored action plan of additional online learning
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This beginner workshop is perfect for newcomers to the world of offsite and MMC or those who would like to brush up their knowledge.
What can I expect from a workshop?
Workshops are highly interactive, in-depth explorations of a topic in a group of 10-25 learners. Along with a presentation from the facilitators, they comprise dialogue and activities, with plenty of time for questions and discussion using Menti for polls and Jamboard to capture your input and comments. Because of this, we ask that attendees are able to give their attention for the full duration of the session.
What are the technical requirements?
You will need:
- Internet connection
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook)
- Earphones/headphones/speakers (preferable)
- A tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone to load facilitation tools
