Biodiversity Enhancements in the Built Environment Sector in Scotland - with NatureScot
What will this Lunch n Learn Webinar cover?
This 1 hour webinar in partnership with NatureScot, will include an overview for attendees on what biodiversity is and why it is an important issue in the built environment industry.
NatureScot will explore in more detail how the built environment sector can have a positive impact maximising biodiversity enhancements in their projects and will set out the implications of the changing context in Scotland.
Simon Brooks, Strategic Planning Manager, NatureScot will focus on the publication of National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) in February 2023. This has focused attention on the role of development in addressing the twin climate and nature crises. This brings new requirements – and challenges – for all development going through the planning system.
Simon will set out Policy 3’s demand for development to contribute to the
enhancement of biodiversity, covering Scotland’s
approach to enhancing biodiversity through the planning system (and how it
differs from England’s ‘Biodiversity Net Gain’ approach)
- the new requirements NPF4 places on different scales of development
- the information and guidance available on enhancing biodiversity
- the challenges for the planning system and development sector if the intended outcomes are to be delivered and the biodiversity crisis tackled
Who should attend?
This will be a broad-spectrum training suitable for anyone working in the built environment sector who wants to learn more about biodiversity.
