The National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF), announced in 2021, brings together 50 supply chain partners to carry out up to £3.6 billion worth of renewals to keep England’s motorways and major A roads running safely and smoothly over a 6 year period.  The Supply Chain School is supporting the SDF suppliers and sub-contractors with training workshops to increase understanding, skills and performance on several key sustainability issues.

What is this Workshop about? 

This 2 hour workshop will provide attendees with an understanding of what biodiversity is, why it is an important issue in the built environment industry and how people working in this industry can have a positive impact. 

Who should attend? 

This will be a broad-spectrum training suitable for anyone working in the built environment sector who wants to learn more about biodiversity.


This workshop will provide participants with:

  • An understanding of the key terms used to describe biodiversity
  • An understanding of why biodiversity is important
  • A (brief) summary of the key statutory requirements on biodiversity
  • An explanation of biodiversity Net Gain
  • Some hints and tips on what they can do


What can I expect from a workshop?

Workshops are interactive training with audience participation to give you a firmer understanding of how you can implement change in your business. They take around 2-3 hours with around 20 other participants.

You may be required to use variety of facilitation tools, such as MentiMeter and Jamboard which will help you and the trainer get real-time input. You will be given clear instructions on how to use these within the workshop.

You may be sent reading materials or supporting documents prior to the workshop, so be sure to check your inbox so you are up to speed.

What are the attendance requirements?

These sessions have limited spaces, so before booking please ensure you can attend, and can meet the full attendance requirements.

Please arrive promptly and stay for the duration of the event. This means arriving no later than 10 minutes late to the workshop and attending the full 2 hours. No recordings will be available of the live session.

Please note, if you fail to meet the attendance requirements, unfortunately you will not be issued a CPD Certificate.

You will need:

·                Internet connection

·                A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook)

·                Earphones/headphones/speakers (preferable)

·                A tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone to load facilitation tools
