Decarbonising our Energy: The Growth of Hydrogen in Construction- Virtual Conference
What is this conference about?
This Virtual Conference will update the built environment industries on the significant role hydrogen will play in the future energy mix for the construction industry.
The increased use of hydrogen to decarbonise transport, plant and equipment in construction is becoming more widely recognised. Hydrogen – in particular Green Hydrogen (produced with renewable energy) - will play a vital strategic role in accelerating the industry’s transition to net zero. Hydrogen can be used directly in a range of onsite plant and equipment, or more commonly be used for recharging and to generate power in conjunction with battery powered equipment. Companies are also experimenting with hydrogen to provide a clean fuel for lowering or eliminating emissions from their commercial fleet.
However, many barriers still exist which prevent more widescale adoption of hydrogen as an alternative fuel or onsite power source.
This conference will hear from experts on how their organisations are providing and using hydrogen in a range of applications, and a transparent discussion on the opportunities and limitations to increased use of hydrogen in our sector. What will I achieve?
By attending this virtual conference, you will:
- Identify colours and their significance in terms of carbon reduction and abatement – Grey / Blue / Green / Gold
- Understand the timelines for increased / widescale hydrogen adoption in their area (domestic / commercial)
- Learn how their own business will be positively impacted by adoption of hydrogen or how it can align and prepare itself to play a role in the hydrogen economy.
- Compare and contrast different types of hydrogen – in particular CCUS (Blue) and Green Hydrogen
Who will I hear from?
Hear from expert speakers, including:
- Colin Evison, Innovation Technical Lead, BAM UK & Ireland - Presenting on how BAM, through the Element 1 Project to lead the construction industry towards a zero emissions future
- Simon Leek, Company Carbon Manager, Sir Robert McAlpine - Presenting on trialling a Hydrogen Power Unit (HPU) to power workshops and plant yard – part of Sir Robert McAlpine’s Net Zero action plan
- Ben Lindley, COO and Co-founder, Hydrologiq - Presenting Hydrologiq’s new breed of off-grid hydrogen powered solutions for construction
- Ruairi Coffey, Head of Skills and Sustainability, L Lynch - Presenting on L Lynch use of Ultimate Cell hydrogen technology to reduces fuel costs, lower emissions and enhance performance
- Andrew Kidd, Director of Environmental Sustainability, Lower Thames Crossing - Presenting on how widescale hydrogen use will be a key element of Lower Thames Crossing’s policy and strategy for making the "greenest road ever built"
Who is this conference suited for?
This conference is suited for Directors, Designers, Architects, Planning Officers, Project Directors and Project Managers, Sustainability Directors and Managers, Environmental Consultants / Managers, Operations Directors and Managers, Engineers, Civil Engineers, Facilities Managers, Plant / Factory Managers, and General Managers. What are the technical requirements?
