What is the session about?

As the demands for net zero and decarbonisation increases, so does the demand on business.

This is a great challenge, but also a significant opportunity.

Businesses across the built environment will be able to tap into this rapid transition, take on future work and enhance their offering.

To do this, they need to be aware of the opportunities available to them, and of the solutions on offer to help them on their way.

The construction industry contributes significantly to the North West’s regional economy; accounting for approximately 8% of regional GDP and providing over 240,000 jobs.  This spans over key infrastructure projects, residential construction and commercial construction across large business communities.

There is an increasing focus on sustainable construction and built environment practices across the region, with many projects incorporating more sustainable building standards, developments including green spaces, eco friendly materials and more. Local governments and private developers are both pushing for higher sustainability standards. The construction, and infrastructure, industries are set to grow. Therefore, businesses must understand the importance of net-zero to this growth, and their future opportunities.

This free, one hour session, will speak directly to businesses working across the North West, and give them the opportunity to contribute.

Speakers will include:

Thalia Czarkowska, Business Advisor from Green Economy, who represent businesses across the region and their work, to help businesses understand the wider context and drivers in the region.
Alex Edwards, ESG Director from Bruntwood, who has expertise in commercial retrofit as well as knowledge around Bruntwood’s other significant work.

This session will be delivered by the Supply Chain Sustainability School, in collaboration with NatWest Group.
