The Midlands: Opportunities in Net Zero for Business - Webinar
Event/Workshop
GB
Tuesday, 12 November 2024, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
What is the session about?
As the demands for net zero and decarbonisation increases, so does the demand on business.
This is a great challenge, but also a significant opportunity.
Businesses across the built environment will be able to tap into this rapid transition, take on future work and enhance their offering.
To do this, they need to be aware of the opportunities available to them, and of the solutions on offer to help them on their way.
The construction industry in the Midlands, a region in the heart of England, plays a significant role in the UK economy. The West Midlands alone contributes approximately £14 billion annually to the UK’s GDP from the construction sector. The construction industry is a significant employer in the Midlands, with over 200,000 people working in the sector across the West and East Midlands.
There is an increasing focus on sustainable construction and built environment practices across the region, with many projects incorporating more sustainable building standards. The construction, and infrastructure, industries are set to grow. Therefore, businesses must understand the importance of net-zero to this growth, and their future opportunities.
This focus on decarbonisation in the built environment doesn’t only impact new build construction and infrastructure – a vital component of this work is retrofit of existing stock. Therefore, this is something those in real estate and asset management really need to take heed of too. Homes, offices, hospitals, retail units and more across the region will need to change to ensure their built environment is working towards net zero – and they’ll need a supply chain to help them do that.
This free, one hour session, will speak directly to businesses working across the Midlands, and give them the opportunity to contribute.
Speakers will include representatives from the Midlands Net Zero Hub to help businesses understand the wider context and drivers in the region, and experts from Lovell Partnerships who can discuss their pipeline of work in the region, how supply chains are involved, and how sustainability is central to it.
This session will be delivered by the Supply Chain Sustainability School, in collaboration with NatWest Group.
