Event/Workshop
GB
Tuesday, 2 July 2024, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
What is this course about?
This course will provide a broader understanding of the principles behind Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR). The built environment has a pipeline of works worth £600bn, and there are further significant works planned, along with having to adapt our workplaces post COVID 19. To ensure we have the skills knowledge and experience required to deliver the necessary work, the industry must ensure it is recruiting and retaining the best people, at all levels of the supply chains.
We need to make our industry a more inclusive place to work; a place where people are happy, feel valued and can thrive in a supportive working environment. One way we can do this is by developing a culture of Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) in our offices and on our sites. In return we will see an increase in workforce engagement, a boost in productivity, greater innovation and higher financial returns.
What will we cover?
Join us to understand what FIR means, why it matters and how you can achieve it to enable a better workplace for all. You will also learn about the FIR Toolkit. These are free-to-access resources, part funded by CITB and distributed through the Supply Chain Sustainability School. It was created by partners including CECA, Network Rail, Highways England, Skanska, VINCI Construction, BAM Construct UK, Balfour Beatty and GRAHAM Construction.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this session, you should be able to:
- Define what Fairness, Inclusion and Respect means
- Learn why it matters and the business case of FIR
- Understand how to progress FIR within your organisation
What level is the course?
