Part 2 of the Lower Thames Crossing Carbon Literacy Project accredited training. Please register for one Part 1 workshop and one Part 2 workshop.
As a pathfinder project, Lower Thames Crossing is exploring carbon neutral construction as part of our effort to make the new crossing the greenest road ever built in the UK. To achieve this, we have already reduced our forecast carbon emissions during the construction of LTC and we have become the first major infrastructure project to use our procurement process to target carbon. We are now working with partners and suppliers to further reduce carbon emissions through low carbon innovation and incentives for carbon reduction.
Delivering on our carbon ambitions requires knowledge and competence on carbon and climate change across all LTC functions.
We have partnered with Action Sustainability and the Supply Chain Sustainability School to provide virtual classroom training on carbon and climate change, accredited to the Carbon Literacy Project, to support your learning, and complement the e-learning modules.
The interactive course is aimed at all LTC staff. It is split over two half-days, and covers the following topics:
- An introduction to climate change, how to measure carbon emissions and what terms like ‘scopes’ and ‘embodied carbon’ mean
- An explanation of net zero carbon, science based targets and what to do with residual, hard-to-decarbonise carbon emissions
- How you can ‘design out’ carbon from your plans, packages and schemes
- How you can embed low carbon considerations into your procurement and contract management processes while maintaining quality and functionality
Please select two dates to attend, one from Part 1 for the first half-day session, and one from Part 2 for the second half-day session. You will need to register for each session through the links provided in your email.
Each session will be 3.5 hours long and will be delivered online using MS Teams with suitable breaks. You will be sent the appointment with link by email, as well as any materials you need on the day. Note: all sessions are in the morning
Please make sure you have a headset to join the workshop, or a quiet room where you can join from. Lastly, we use an interactive polling software called Mentimeter which is accessed through your smartphone or computer, so please have that to hand.
