What is this Webinar about?

This 1 hour informative webinar is aimed at suppliers of National Highways, HS2 and Network Rail, will explore the ‘science’ behind science-based targets and then get into the detail about how to apply for and set a target.

It also covers the basis for net zero and how to deal with residual carbon, either through offsetting or carbon removal

This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of:

  • The science behind science based targets
  • What are science-based targets and how to apply
  • What is net zero?
  • How do we reduce carbon?
  • What do we do with residual carbon?

Led by the Supply Chain School and National Highways, this workshop is organised as part of the National Highways Regional Delivery Partnership (RDP) initiative which provides targeted training and sustainability knowledge to the RDP supply chain across England, working closely with several Delivery Integration Partners (DIPs).

The RDP initiative is free to all suppliers/sub-contractors and includes:

  • Sustainability Performance measuring and continuous improvement using the Supply Chain School's Sustainability Tool
  • Supplier Events: Training Workshops and Supply Chain Webinars highlight best practice and expected standards
  • Access to online curated and blended National Highways "Learning Pathways"

National Highways has created a new division for Environmental Sustainability as it underlines its commitment to the environment and achieving net zero carbon. The new division will work with National Highways’ executive directors and board to deliver the ambitious plan to cut carbon emissions to net zero across England’s motorways and major A-roads by 2050.
