What is this session about?
In this instalment of our webinar series dedicated to exploring the carbon implications of various building materials, we will shine a spotlight on Timber within the Commercial sector.
In the wake of the recent release of the School's "Whole Life Carbon Guidance for Offsite Construction" report, this session will feature guest speakers from the Structural Timber Association (STA) and Stora Enso. Andrew Carpenter (STA) will be focusing on the work being undertaken by the Government's Timber in Construction Working Group which sets out to ‘safely increase the amount of timber used in construction’ as we move to our 2050 net zero target. Mila Duncheva from Stora Enso will showcase award-winning projects and elaborate on why they chose timber as their primary building material. She will also show design approaches for typical office buildings and mass timber detailing guidance to help you with your next ESG-driven project. During the presentation, they will also delve into both the advantages and challenges they encountered, with a particular emphasis on how timber can contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
