Costain are working with other clients, contractors and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to explain what FIR means, why it matters, how to achieve it and to encourage use of a FIR Toolkit. Construction and infrastructure has a pipeline of works worth £600bn, and there are further significant works planned, including building new homes. As a result, there is an acute shortage of skilled workers available, at all tiers of industry supply chains.
