What is the workshop about?

As the recent IPCC report demonstrates, and as more and more people are learning through news coverage of high profile events such as COP26, there has never been a more urgent need to address human impacts on climate change. The built environment is one of the major contributors to carbon emissions and reduction has to occur to avoid the worst effects. There is increasing pressure on our industry to ensure that we are reducing carbon in the design, construction and operation of projects, and organisations need to understand how to help their customers meet this challenge.

This workshop will develop your knowledge and skills so that you can support your organisation by assessing and reducing your carbon emissions.

What will I achieve?

On completion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the relevance of carbon for the built environment and construction industry
  • Understand key terms used in carbon footprinting analysis
  • Discuss ways of reducing carbon and learn about carbon reduction action plans
  • Find out about different approaches and standards
  • Be better placed to meet client requirements

What level is the workshop and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginner level workshop and appropriate for those at the start of their journey in developing an approach to understanding and reducing carbon emissions for their organisation.

What can I expect from a workshop?

Workshops are interactive training with audience participation to give you a firmer understanding of how you can implement change in your business. They take around 2-3 hours with around 20 other participants.

You may be required to use variety of facilitation tools, such as Mentimeter, Jamboard and Mural which will help you and the trainer get real-time input. You will be given clear instructions on how to use these within the workshop.
