What skills make up the Retrofit Skills Gap? - Virtual Conference
Event/Workshop
GB
Tuesday, 8 October 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
What is the session about?
We need to retrofit 29 million buildings before 2050. Who is going to do it? We know we need more people who can fill this pipeline of work. But, what skills do they actually need?
The Retrofit Skills Gap is a well-known blocker to decarbonisation in the UK. There has been significant research into the numbers we need to make up the workforce required to retrofit at scale. Acknowledging the retrofit skills gap is one thing, but examining what skills make up that gap in order to plan for filling it is another.
This conference will break down the research into the skills required in retrofit, and also the practical skills being used in the retrofit industry today.
This session will bring experts in to discuss their findings and how they have gathered information across industry, it will also bring together those delivering retrofit and have them share what skills they using in their roles.
You will hear from:
- Tercia Jansen van Vuuren, author of Construction Leadership Council report on Roadmap of Skills for Net Zero Report.
- Lance Hitchens, Head of Customer Experience, speaking on training delivered by Mitsubishi Electric UK on heat pumps
