An overview of Climate Change and Carbon – facilitated by James Cadman from the Supply Chain Sustainability School

This introductory session presents the causes of climate change and the climate crisis. We will provide key facts & figures and a jargon buster. We will introduce common terms and their meanings - such as “Embodied Carbon”, “Net Zero” and “Science Based Targets (SBTs)”.

The session will look at carbon reduction policies and actions - in Scotland, the UK and globally.

Participants will gain insight into how they as individuals – and their organisations - can start thinking about reducing and reporting their own and their supply chain's carbon emissions.

The session will cover the essential steps of carbon footprinting and reporting carbon performance. We will explain the scale of the issue, and where priorities lie through the capture and analysis of data.

‘This session forms part of the Climate Academy, a series of six online learning sessions available to charities, organisations, and businesses (including our existing and potential supply chain partners) across SSEN licence areas. The Climate Academy supports SSEN’s commitment to assisting other organisations on their transition to net zero.
