Net Zero and Carbon Neutral – facilitated by James Cadman from the Supply Chain Sustainability School

This session will explore the concept of 'net zero carbon' and investigate ways in which organisations can achieve zero carbon emissions. We will look at the legal basis for net zero, including the UK Climate Change Act, the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the IPCC 1.5C report. This session will include an overview of Scopes 1, 2 and 3 in terms of Carbon Measuring and Reporting. Practical actions will be outlined, showing how individuals and organisations can work towards achieving net zero and how reporting works on carbon reduction activities.

We will look at Science Based Targets (SBTs) in more detail – including understanding the process and ambition to set SBTs within any organisation.

We will also investigate Embodied Carbon, including what the term means to SSEN, how suppliers can account  for/record their emissions, and what SSEN be looking for in terms of future reporting from its supply chain

This session forms part of the Climate Academy, a series of six online learning sessions available to charities, organisations, and businesses (including our existing and potential supply chain partners) across SSEN licence areas. The Climate Academy supports SSEN’s commitment to assisting other organisations on their transition to net zero.
