Climate Adaptation – facilitated by Ross Primmer from the Supply Chain Sustainability School
This session will consider climate change
adaptation - the process of adjusting to current or expected climate change and
its effects. This is one of the ways to respond to climate change, along with
climate change mitigation which involves steps to reduce carbon and other
greenhouse gas emissions.
Adaptation actions can be either incremental – ie actions where the central aim is to maintain the essence and integrity of a system; or transformational – ie actions that change the fundamental attributes of a system in response to climate change and its impacts.
We will look at the risks to business and the economy as a result of climate change, and the adaptation challenge we face. What is the current resilience of UK households and businesses in response to the effects and impact of climate change (eg flooding, storms, drought, heat waves)? How can organisations – both large and small – include the risk of climate change impact in their business strategies and adapt more rapidly to any threats they face?
This session forms part of the Climate Academy, a series of six online learning sessions available to charities, organisations, and businesses (including our existing and potential supply chain partners) across SSEN licence areas. The Climate Academy supports SSEN’s commitment to assisting other organisations on their transition to net zero.
