The Lower Thames Crossing is part of the biggest investment in the country’s road network for a generation and an essential component in the UK’s future transport infrastructure. It will boost local, regional and national economies while offering new connections, better journeys and fewer delays. Companies can find out more about this major project at https://highwaysengland.co.uk/our-work/lower-thames-crossing/

This session forms part of a series of free training events being delivered by National Highways and the Supply Chain Sustainability School from April 2022 to March 2023. The aim is to provide existing, prospective and future suppliers with enhanced knowledge, skills and competencies on a range of sustainability issues. The training is funded by National Highways to build supply chain capacity and capability, particularly across the immediate and surrounding areas of the project’s route (north and south of the Thames estuary).

What is this session about?

Working through a framework of Toolsets, Skillsets and Mindsets we will explore what collaboration means and the behaviours required to promote, foster and embed collaborative working at all levels throughout a project, an alliance, an organisation and into the supply chain.

Collaborative Working is one of many influencers to support effective project delivery, however, without an appreciation of other influences, progress may not meet expectation. During the session we will also explore other influencers that will need to be considered alongside Collaborative Working to ensure overall benefit is realised and sustained.

What will I achieve?

By the end of the session you will have an understanding of how to gauge the maturity of your current performance at all levels of the organisation structure,  to identify the drivers of relationships through the project and into the supply chain that will impact on effective collaboration; you will have an opportunity to develop improvement plans and discuss approaches to support key areas of influencing, avoiding blame, problem solving & team building.

The Session will give you the confidence in tackling the key elements that are often overlooked when working with multiple suppliers & contractors in the delivery of a project. It will enable you to ensure that the mindsets required for a successful project delivery are understood from the beginning, allowing the correct skillsets to be developed alongside the tools that will support continuous improvement and overall performance improvement.

What level is the session and do I need particular skills?

We are running this session at Intermediate Level for Managers and Team Leaders who are responsible for project planning, operations and on-site delivery. Delegates should be from companies actively involved in the Lower Thames Crossing supply chain.
