How Do We Make Retrofit Funding Work? - Virtual Conference
What is this conference about?
The evidence for the need for retrofit is undeniable – we need buildings across the UK to be more energy efficient because we need to:
- Reduce Carbon Emissions
- Lower Energy Costs for Owners & Tenants
- Boost Property Value & Resilience
- Meet Government Climate Targets & Regulations
- Support Green Jobs & Economic Growth
So just what are the barriers and opportunities associated with retrofit? How do we accelerate retrofit in the built environment? and importantly, how do we fund this?
Barriers to retrofit include lack of Government regulation, the motivations of property investors, supply chain issues, the cost of funds and the take up of funding that is already on offer.
Often, initial upfront costs and lack of clarity on retrofit funding options can mean property owners hesitate to retrofit, or retrofit to a lower standard. The need for retrofit is only growing, and therefore so is the pressure to fund it.
To address this market barrier, innovative funding solutions are coming into play – things like green mortgages, pay as you save models, and many other models being piloted across the UK.
These models will not only help the property owners, but the supply chains that can then tap into this work.
Come along to this session to hear from different panellists on their funding models and concepts that will drive this and enable retrofit at scale.
